March meditation classes – Fridays 10.30-11.30am

These meditation classes are suitable for complete beginners and those with some experience of meditation. They are taught by meditation teacher, Sue Leeks. They give a practical introduction to meditation and include topics such as the benefits of meditation, mindfulness, good posture, types of meditation, and how to start a daily meditation practice. Advice is also given on how to remain peaceful in daily life by applying the meditation techniques explained in these classes. Please feel free to drop in on a class-by-class basis. No special clothing is required with chairs provided for your comfort.

About meditation

The purpose of meditation is to make our mind calm and peaceful. If our mind is peaceful we shall be free from worries and mental discomfort, and so we shall experience true happiness. By training in meditation we can gradually learn to stay peaceful all the time, even in the most difficult circumstances.

If we practice meditation we will experience a calm, spacious feeling in the mind, and many of our usual problems will fall away. Difficult situations will become easier to deal with, we will naturally feel warm and well disposed towards other people, and our relationships with others will gradually improve.
