Peterborough Tuesday meditation classes 7.00-8.15pm

These meditation classes are suitable for everyone. They give a practical introduction to meditation and include topics such as the benefits of meditation, mindfulness, good posture, types of meditation, and how to start a daily meditation practice. Advice is also given on how to remain peaceful in daily life by applying the meditation techniques explained in these classes. The classes conclude with light refreshments afterwards. Please feel free to drop in on a class-by-class basis. See below for dates.

No special clothing is required with chairs and cushions provided for your comfort.  Come along to any session, pre-booking is available but not required

Surfing life’s problems

We need to learn and practice the methods that give us the ability to transform our worries and pressures into opportunities for developing and helping ourself and others. On this course we have an opportunity to learn just that.

Rejuvenate with a gentle, guided meditation to calm and clear the mind, let go of tension and get re-focused for the rest of your day. Learn and practice meditations to improve mindfulness, helping us to subdue our distractions and be more present, in the moment, with a positive state of mind.

Be light, be positive

It’s difficult to be positive when you’re feeling anxious, irritated, or stressed, yet these experiences are far too common in our hectic world. Mindfulness and meditation are proven methods to discover the underlying causes of all your negative states of mind and replace them with positive and beneficial states of mind instead. On this course learn how you can free yourself from the harmful effects of negativity and become relaxed, positive and confident in your everyday activities.

The summer term courses will be taught by meditation teacher Dave Chambers who has many years experience as a practitioner and teacher.

Parking

Plenty of free parking is available on the Dogsthorpe Rd and the surrounding streets. Please park carefully with consideration for our neighbours. Thank you

Accessibility

The community areas of the centre are all on the ground floor. There is a smooth path accessible through the gate on the corner of Dogsthorpe Road and Woodbyth Road leading to the front door. There is one small, curved step to the door, one small up-and-over door sill into the porch and another into the hallway. Each step is no higher than 4 inches (10cm). The doors can be opened wide enough to easily accommodate someone in a wheelchair. We are planning to make a removable ramp to avoid the need to be pushed over the steps and currently have one ramp which fits into the porch. In the interim we ask that, if you have them, please bring any portable ramps of your own to assist you over the steps. Once in the hallway, all areas of the centre are accessible. There is room for a wheelchair to fit face-on to the toilet to facilitate forward transfers.

We meditate on straight-backed conference-style chairs and there are cushions on which you can rest your feet to make yourself comfortable. The meditation room is fully accessible with plenty of room for a wheelchair.
