Coping with Pain – Special Monthly Meditation Classes

Although this is a monthly class it doesn’t matter if you have missed some sessions. Each class, whilst they also follow on as a course, is designed to work on its own.

Please note there is no class in May due to the term break.

Following on from the popular 4-week course in September 2019 we are offering a monthly meditation class exploring further how to accept and re-define our experience of pain and suffering.

Each one of us has experienced, or will experience, pain: physical pain; emotional pain; sickness and the loss of someone or something dear to us. This course will cover methods that Buddha taught for transforming suffering into wisdom. We don’t need to be afraid of pain or to push it away. These techniques will help us face all the events of life with grace, clarity and inner resilience.

It will be of most benefit if all the classes are attended. However, each session will work on its own if you are unable to come to them all. There is no need to book, just come along and pay on the door.

This course will be taught by experienced meditation teacher Sue Gunn who has lived with chronic pain and disability since childhood.

On other Tuesday lunchtimes during term time there will be a half-hour class on Meditations for Daily Life with either Kelsang Rak-ma or Sue Gunn. All of Buddha’s teachings and meditations can be applied to any of our problems and these classes will be a perfect complement to the Coping with Pain classes.

Each one-hour class includes a practical talk to help your meditation experience as well as two relaxing guided meditations.
