Educational & School Visits

All year round many local schools, universities and community groups visit the peaceful setting of The Drolma Centre. We organise guided tours of our beautiful meditation room with explanations of our Buddhist shrines, statues and artwork. We are also able to deliver guided meditations and teachings on the Buddhist way of life.

We can send one of our teachers to your school or group to explain and answer questions. We can cover many topics from the practise of meditation and its benefits, to the life of Buddha and his teachings. We are very happy to discuss the visit beforehand, in order to tailor the session to your requirements or curriculum. For example, we can bring in statues and ritual items; we can share Buddhist stories and analogies or guide a simple, relaxation meditation with the group.

If you would like a visit the fee is £50 for up to an hour and a half session. If you would like to find out more please contact Helena Jarman our Education Programme Co-ordinator at epcdrolma@gmail.com or by phone at 01733 755 444.

I have just had our Y10 return buzzing about their trip to the Drolma Centre and other faith venues. My thanks to you for making the visit engaging and supporting the students by raising awareness of a belief they did not know about until today. Moments of reflection are so important in our busy world, thank you for giving of your time and making them welcome.

Everyone who was involved on Tuesday said how lovely the afternoon was and how much they had learned from the visit. I went in the next day and they were all telling me about it and how amazing it was. Please thank Kelsang Rak-ma for all she did to make the whole experience amazing for all. I know it will have helped them so much to go forward with their learning. Very much appreciated and many thanks again.

1st Thurlby Scout Troop found our visit to The Drolma Centre very enjoyable and educational. Rak-ma is very approachable and tells the story of Buddhism and her role in such a way it captivated the group for over an hour. If there was a Trip Advisor for Buddhist Centres this would get 5 stars, we recommend it to any Scout Group or Section.
