What to expect at a class
Our range of meditation classes and courses are suitable for all individuals whatever their level of interest, from those who seek simple relaxation and stress relief, to those who wish to learn about Modern Buddhism. Everyone is welcome regardless of belief. All the meditations, techniques and practical methods come from Buddha’s ancient wisdom, but you do not need to be a Buddhist to attend or to benefit from these classes.
We usually sit on chairs to ensure everyone is comfortable and at our main Centre there are also cushions on the floor if you prefer.
The classes are organized as short courses, usually about 4 to 6 weeks long. Each class is self-contained so you can follow the whole course or just drop-in to individual classes. You are welcome start at any time and no prior knowledge or experience of meditation is needed.
Classes begin with a simple guided breathing meditation to reduce stress, tension and distractions. The teacher will explain how to meditate and will give practical guidance during the class. He or she will give a talk based on Buddha’s teachings that will explain how to put meditation into practice in daily life to increase our own and others happiness. This may include topics such as improving relationships, developing confidence, gaining peace of mind, coping with stress and dealing with anger. There is guided meditation at the end of the class to help us gain deeper experience of the subject of the class.
There is also an informal opportunity to ask questions after the class over light refreshments in the lounge.
Everyone is welcome; just drop in! If you would like more information or help please CONTACT US.
